南方、柳ヶ瀬付近より見上げる御嶽山山頂部。地獄谷源頭部に位置する1979年10月の噴火口から白色噴煙が上がり、右にたなびいている。中央のピークが奥の院（王滝頂上南、2940m峰）。右斜面に1984年9月に崩壊した伝上川の源頭部が見える。左、地獄谷右岸には少なくとも江戸時代から確認されている2本の噴気が上がる（赤丸内）。左端のピークは継母岳。1984年12月撮影。
