Ad.ditional comments | Io-To is a post-caldera volcano located on the rim of a submarine
caldera 10 km in diameter. This submarine caldera is located on the summit
of a large stratovolcano ca. 2000 m-high. Extreme uplift rates of 11 cm/year
in 1911-1952 and 33 cm/year in 1952-1968 were recorded. Totally, Motoyama (center of caldera) uplifted ca. 15 meters between AD 1911 and AD 2009. Maximun uplift between AD 2013 and AD 2022 is 8.3 meters. The island name changed from "Io-Jima" to "Io-To" in 2007. |
