Geological Literature Search  

This is a database of geological documents and maps created by the Geological Survey of Japan (GSJ), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).

The "GEOLIS" is a database of geological documents and maps held by the GSJ.

  • Publications of the GSJ
  • Literature on Japan and surrounding seas or by Japanese authors
  • Geological maps of foreign countries

You can perform a simple search using free words or an advanced search by title, author, etc., and download the search results (batch or selected, CSV format).

Explanation of GEOLIS

  • The Geological Map Library and the Tsukuba Central Library of the AIST allow browsing and copying (for a fee) within the scope of copyright law.
  • Our library do not provide Photoduplication Service from outside of Japan.
  • If the searched document is an online journal (indicated by "online" in the name of the document), it will be linked to the publisher. However, viewing and copying may be restricted according to the terms of the contract between AIST and the publisher.
  • The latitude and longitude of the rectangular range information in the "Remarks" column follows the notation of the original publication.
  • Some geological maps were provided by "The Japanese Alpine Club" for the digital data of this site.
  • This database is operated based on the Government of Japan Standard Terms and Conditions (Version 2.0).
